BREAKING: Appeals Court Slaps Down E. Jean Carroll’s $83 Million Shakedown of Trump… See more

The Second Circuit has handed President Donald Trump a significant legal victory by pausing enforcement of the $83.3 million defamation judgment tied to writer E. Jean Carroll. The court’s decision gives Trump additional time to appeal the case to the U.S. Supreme Court while posting a $7.4 million bond to cover interest during the process.

Trump’s legal team argues the case could ultimately be overturned based on presidential immunity protections and the Westfall Act, which in some situations allows the federal government to substitute itself as the defendant in lawsuits involving actions tied to official duties. According to his attorneys, the Supreme Court may determine that the claims should not proceed against Trump personally.

Supporters of Trump say the lawsuit was part of a broader political effort aimed at damaging him ahead of the election, describing it as another example of “lawfare” against the former president. They argue that recent developments show the case is facing closer legal scrutiny and that the long-running battle could still shift dramatically in Trump’s favor.
